DAY 18 – OCT 3
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10
Dallas Willard called hurry “the great enemy of spiritual life in our day” and said, “You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.” If you are going to take seriously the call of Jesus, this will be a great challenge in your walk with him. Our enemy won’t go down without a fight, and he will constantly stand in the way of this. It’s been said that Jesus was always intentional but never in a hurry. How can we replicate this in our anxious times? This will take intentionality as we examine our lives through the lens of the Holy Spirit. What activities do we hold onto that need to be surrendered?
We Pray: Heavenly Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment as we examine our schedules. We pack our lives with activities that are not necessarily bad in and of themselves, but collectively they can distract us from true life with You. Help us to follow the model of Jesus’ life so we can focus on Your will. Teach us to “number our days” (Psalm 90:12) so we can remember how precious life truly is. We pray this in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
