DAY 40 – OCT 25
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-11
This exhortation calls to mind Joshua 1:9 in the call to be strong and courageous. In both the Old and New Testaments (and today), it is the Lord God that provides the strength. When we put on His armor, we have the protection we need to withstand the attacks of the devil. The enemy prowls like a roaring lion waiting to attack (1 Peter 5:8-9) but we are to resist him in faith. While battle is not something we gladly choose, we willingly enter the arena knowing that we have the Lord Almighty on our side. However, if we are to enter this battle we need to be properly equipped.
We Pray: Heavenly Father, you know that you are the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Remind us to rely on Your strength and might when we are attacked by our enemy the devil. It is all too easy to ignore this adversary in our modern world, so give us your eyes to see his schemes. We know we can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13). We thank you for this promise in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
