DAY 25 – OCT 10
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have suffering. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
This verse comes with two promises. The first is not one we desire for ourselves (suffering). We know intellectually that true growth often requires some pain, but it is difficult to see beyond our momentary afflictions to the end result. Working through this pain with the power of the Holy Spirit can bring the freedom that we need in Christ. After all, Jesus reminds us in the second promise that he has overcome the world. We certainly don’t need to seek suffering in this world. However, when we have pain in our lives, we need to offer it to Jesus, because he can use it for our transformation.
We Pray: Heavenly Father, help us to deal with suffering in our lives by casting our cares on you. It is all too easy to be weighed down by our burdens and lose sight of you. Also, please grant us the eyes to see those suffering around us so that we can truly be the hands and feet of Jesus. We often have a scar were someone else has a wound. Holy Spirit, use our past pain to help us be part of healing in someone else’s life. We pray for your strength to accomplish this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
