DAY 23 – OCT 8
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:25-26
Anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts (especially among college students and young adults) are at an all-time high according to many studies. While there are many potential causes, the burdens of modern living combined with the pressures of our media-driven world to “conform” are some of the major culprits. Jesus never promises that life will be easy, but he does promise to walk with us through our troubles. When we seek the Kingdom of God first (Matthew 6:33) our focus shifts from our momentary problems to the eternal promises of God.
We Pray: Father, help us to remember that Your Kingdom is our home, not this temporary dwelling on Earth. While we have tasks set before us in this life, let us rest in the promise that Jesus shares our burden if we put our faith in him (Matthew 11:28-30). We who are anxious and weary pray these words in the mighty name of our risen Savior. Amen.
