Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect
Romans 12:2
We are all being formed in some way. The question is: what are we allowing to form us? We can be conformed to the world (the path of least resistance) or transformed (which means a new mindset from God changes us from the inside out). In Paul’s day, the Roman rulers wanted to make everyone more “Roman” but Paul is reminding the church (and us) that God wants to make everyone more Christ-like.
We Pray: God, we know that we are in battle every day, but You have already won the war. Help us to remember that you lovingly want to transform us from citizens of the world to citizens of Your Kingdom. Shape us and mold us into people who are becoming more Christ-like every day. We can’t do this our own, so we pray for Your transforming power and grace. We pray for this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
