DAY 19 – OCT 4
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
John 17:20-23
These words were spoken by Jesus to his disciples the night he was betrayed. His prayer for their unity with each other and their connection to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit still resonates with us today as well (as we are those who believe as a result of the disciples’ faithful spread of the gospel).
We Pray: Jesus, you were praying for us before we were even born. We are grateful for your love and salvation. It is a gift we didn’t earn and don’t deserve. Help us to live in authentic community with one another and in communion with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as we demonstrate your love to a hurting world. We pray this in your holy name. Amen.
