DAY 13 – SEPT 28
Jesus said, `Come and see.’ They went and saw the place where Jesus was staying. The time was about four o’clock in the afternoon. They stayed with Jesus the rest of the day.
John 1:39-41
Come and see. This is such a simple invitation that Jesus gives these first seekers before they are called to be disciples. If we are truly to follow Jesus, we first have to be with him. The disciples left their jobs and families and traveled with Jesus over several years. In the story of Mary and Martha, Mary chose to be with him (at his feet). On the night of his betrayal, Jesus told the disciples to abide (remain) in him. It is clear, that Jesus wants us near to him. This seems impossible some 2000 years later, but God provides the Holy Spirit so we can, even in our time, be with Jesus. This is so vital to our walk with God.
We Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to guide us in the way of Jesus. We know that apart from You we can do nothing. (John 15:15). Help us to remember this when we feel isolated or alone. We need You like the air we breathe. We pray for you Sprit to surround us and comfort us in Jesus’ name. Amen
