Reignite Our Mission
Luke 10:1-2
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
There are two truths that stand out in this passage. First, Jesus sends them out in pairs. We weren’t meant to do this alone. We need a brother or sister that we can rely on to help us (and vice versa) as we proclaim the Holy name of Jesus. Second, more laborers are needed if we are to accomplish the task Jesus sets before us. If you are on sidelines right now, pray for Jesus to mobilize you. If you are in the game by yourself, pray for a teammate to come alongside and share your burdens.
We pray:
God, you are the Lord of the harvest. The fields are ripe, but we can’t bring in this bountiful harvest by ourselves. Help us to do this in community for your name’s sake, so all will hear of your son Jesus and what he has done for them (and us). We pray for this in his name, Amen.
