DAY 23 – SEPTEMBER 11
Reignite Our Vision
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This verse is among the most quoted from the Old Testament, and gives a promise to God’s people for all time. However, in context, this prophetic statement was delivered to a people being sent to captivity as a reminder that God would prosper them in their circumstances. This did not mean an immediate rescue from suffering, but rather a promise that God has a vision for our lives. Regardless of our current situation, he can work through it to prosper us and give us his vision for our hope and future.
We pray: Father, it is sometimes difficult to see your vision for our future when we see so much suffering in our lives or the lives around us. You remind us that you have a vision for us, and that you join us in our trials even when we don’t see immediate rescue. Help us to rest in this truth in Jesus’ name, Amen.
