Reignite Our Passion
1 Corinthians 13:13
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
While this passage is often read at weddings, in its original context Paul is writing to a church that is lacking in passion and love for God and one another. In the midst of his teachings on spiritual gifts, Paul reminds them (and us) that without love and passion we are just a “noisy gong” (ESV) or “the creaking of a rusty gate.” (Message)
We pray: Jesus, help us to not separate our passion from our actions. Love isn’t always easy, but we choose to focus our passion on you and your church to reach a world that is desperate for your love. We pray this in your name, Amen.
