Reignite Our Passion
John 12:2-3
Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
For a moment, imagine that you are present in the house while this is happening. What are you thinking? Can you smell the perfume? Are you shocked by her extravagant passion for Jesus? Take a moment to close your eyes and try to wrap your mind around what Mary did.
We pray: Almighty God, we dare to pray for a passion like that of Mary. She didn’t care what it cost and what people thought. She just knew she loved you and had to find a way to show it. Help us to find a way to love you with an extravagant passion like this in the name of your son Jesus, Amen.
